CESC BACKS ARSENAL

The Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas spent 8 seasons with Arsenal and after making his move to the Spanish club he has expressed his wish of someday returning to the club that saw him grow up since he was a youngster.

He said: “Arsenal is in my heart and always will be. I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity to go back and play there one day, or maybe after football.

“It’s a club that is always going to be there and will always open its doors to me. The club’s like a family so, even if it wasn’t as a coach, I’m sure they’d give me the chance to play a role.

“Sol [Campbell] is there now. Arsenal helps a lot with the formation of coaches. [Dennis] Bergkamp also went there two, three times a week when he was doing his coaching badges. In that sense it’s a lovely club and there might be the chance to do something with them.”

His transfer to Barcelona finalized one of the longest and most recurrent transfer sagas of modern times. With each passing season more and more rumors kept on emerging with the Catalan club trying to make an approach for Fabregas but the offers being declined mostly by Arsene Wenger until the tactician could not refuse an offer of £35 million for the Spanish midfielder.

The time he lasted with Arsenal however will not be forgotten for him as he has also stated about being involved as a future coach for the English club as he wants to see his former club achieve glory and win silverware.

“They’ve started very well. They look very strong; let’s see how they last.

“In the Premier League you can be going well and then you lose two games and you slip away quickly.

UNITED CHASE CESC

Manchester United have been showing tremendous interest in Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas over the last month. They have had two offers for the player rejected by the Spanish club. The latest offer of around £ 35 million will break the transfer record of the United. Even then, they are extremely keen to complete the signing in the hope of strengthening their midfield, which was one of the weakest points of last season. Barcelona, though, have been adamant that they will not sell the player under any price and circumstance.

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta recently suggested that the Manchester United had given up the interest in Fabregas after receiving no encouragement from the Catalan club. Moyes, though, has said that would not talk about any potential third bid for the Spaniard. It is also thought that Manchester United have turned their attention from Fabregas to Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who is someone Moyes knows extremely well from his time at Everton. In fact, Moyes was the manager responsible for bringing the Belgian midfielder to English football.

He has become one of the best players in the Premier league, and he would cost relatively less than Fabregas at just £ 25 million. Moyes has said on several occasions that there is money available for him to spend.

“Manchester United are interested in the player, but it’s also true that they understand our position of not wanting to sell. They have renounced his signing. We aren’t going to sell him. He’s an extraordinary player who creates and finishes chances. We are delighted with him. He’s the number four of Barca,” said Zubizarreta. “What I know is Fabregas will stay one more year at least in Barcelona. That’s the information I have. If that changes, I don’t know, but that is what I have been told,” said Wenger.

CESC CRITICISED

Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has come under criticism from the Barcelona fans on several occasions this season. He has been unable to replicate his Arsenal form since his £ 35 million move from the Premier league outfit almost 2 years ago. Fabregas has also been playing much higher up the pitch than he has ever been playing in his career.

Many believe that it has contributed to his poor form at the Camp Nou, as he has found himself consistently on the substitutes bench. He has been overlooked when it comes to the midfield positions, as manager Tito Vilanova has preferred the partnership of Xavi, Sergio Busquets, and Andres Iniesta.

Despite his poor form, Vilanova has come to the support of Fabregas by saying that he has been extremely good for the club. Fabregas was heavily criticised during the 3-0 defeat against Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou. Barcelona suffered an exit from the Champions cup league semi-final after suffering the 7-0 defeat on aggregate. Vilanova has said that Fabregas is a player of great quality and he has recalled how the Spaniard finished as the second-highest scorer for the club last season.

The 25-year-old has managed to score 13 goals in all competitions for Barcelona, while he is viewed as the long-term successor to Xavi.

“Cesc is a player of great quality. It was very difficult for him to come here, but last season he was our second top scorer and this season he’s going the same way again. His performances are very good and I don’t think the majority of people in the stadium the other day focused their displeasure on him. He’s a big asset to the team,” said Vilanova. Barcelona have been knocked out of the cup competitions this season and they can only win the league title.
